Black and Grey Samurai. The red character is “ten” in Chinese / Japanese Kanji and means ‘sky’ or ‘heaven’ which is something I believe everyone is striving for. I originally wanted just the symbol, but because it’s very plain, we decided to have it more as a subtle detail. The samurai, I feel represents the warrior within.
Got this tattoo from JJ at B’z ink in Troy, MI
This is a quote from Ron Weasley in a letter to Harry Potter in Chamber of Secrets. JK Rowling also said it in an interview in 2000 as her parting advice for her readers. I have been an unspeakably massive Harry Potter fan for twelve years now, and I have grown up with Harry.
I have struggled with an eating disorder, depression, and cutting for a long time. As I have worked towards recovery the past few months, this quote has really come to symbolize for me the mentality of not being dragged down by the world. Instead it’s my little reminder to find the magic inside of myself and be happy.
I got my tattoo on the inside of my right calf, near the scars which cover the fronts and sides of both of my calves. I’m working toward the courage to go out in shorts or a skirt and not hide my scars under tights and pants in the hot summer weather. I feel like my tattoo tells my story and gives me bravery to ignore the Muggles and accept myself.

While Lion is certainly one of the important things Apple released today, also of interest to us Minimal Mac types is the release of upgraded new MacBook Airs and Mac Minis.
Both have been refreshed with the new Sandy Bridge i5 and i7 processors and Thunderbolt. Apple boasts this makes them twice as fast. But there are a couple of other items that I think are even more interesting.
The Mac Mini has dropped the optical drive in all models. Therefore, no CDs or DVDs. This is a trend that Apple started with MacBook Air and it is clearly a direction they are heading. It begs one to wonder when they will disappear for other Macs as well.
Also, the low end white MacBook is now gone from the store. Thus, the natural conclusion is that Apple now expects the $999.00 MacBook Air 11inch to be it’s replacement. As one who is a fan of this model I support this move. I mean, seriously, if I were a student or someone new to the Mac and this were my “starter” Mac I would be blown away. Very smart move on Apple’s part. Especially if paired with one of the newly released displays…
I did mention the displays have been refreshed as well, didn’t I? No? Well they have. Also with Thunderbolt thus allowing one to connect a single cable to one of the new Airs, Minis, or MacBook Pros for all of your I/O needs (USB, Firewire Ethernet, etc.). What we believe in for sure.
All in all, this is like Christmas in July for Mac fans.
The New York City skyline viewed from above looking out over the roof tops of midtown Manhattan.
I love this view of New York City’s roof tops. This particular view is from the vantage point of midtown facing south. You can just make out the Manhattan Bridge and the Brooklyn Bridge in the distance. For an island, Manhattan is packed to the brim in some spots with buildings. When people imagine Manhattan, I suspect this is what they have in mind; a dense island with nothing but man-made structures filling the landscape. Of course, there is so much more to Manhattan and the range of diverse natural environments that can be found nestled in amongst the buildings is also impressive. Still, it’s interesting to view the dense cityscape portions of New York City.
I like this little quip about midtown: “As New York’s largest central business district, Midtown Manhattan is indisputably the busiest single commercial district in the United States, and among the most intensely and diversely used pieces of real estate in the world. The great majority of New York City’s skyscrapers, including its tallest hotels and apartment towers, lie within Midtown. More than 700,000 commuters work in its offices, hotels, and retail establishments; the area also hosts many tourists, visiting residents, and students. Some areas, especially Times Square and Fifth Avenue, have massive clusters of retail establishments. Sixth Avenue in Midtown holds the headquarters of three of the four major television networks, and is one of a few global centers of news and entertainment. It is also a growing center of finance, second in importance within the United States only to Downtown Manhattan’s Financial District. Times Square is also the epicenter of American theater.” Source

OS X 10.7 Lion installs a suite of recovery tools onto a new partition, obviating the need for recovery disks or even the new USB drive that comes with MacBook Airs. The suite includes classics like Disk Utility and new tricks like a “Boot into Safari” option to get support even if you can’t boot into the OS, or Internet Recovery if you need to download and reinstall Lion from scratch. Just hold Command-R during boot to launch into Lion Recovery.
